latenight

i'm so sleepy but there is exciting stuff on the horizon. we are recording in a couple weeks with bobb bruno. so cool. then brian miller/deathbomb arc is going to put out our first ever release on cassette! elijah is doing the album art and we're going to have some hidden tracks and remixes on the b-side.

we're not playing any shows for the rest of the year, but we have some crazy awesome shows coming up in jan and feb. me and jessica are playing as dana&stripes though this saturday at my fave place, ze warpzone:

it's going to be tight.

i wish i could post some pix but i lost my usb cable. nighty night!

goth as f&*(%

^that is one of the reasons why monday nights at pehrspace are so the best! it was sean's bday and we partied our brains out. i sang with zombelle and it was a blast. we did an awesome metal/punk rendition of happy birthday for the man himself.

things are way cool, been hanging out with my bff meg so much lately, which makes me so so happy. halloween was really really fun too. unfortunately the three of us didn't really get to hang out :( but we all had fun, jessica dressed as a mummy and vanessa was a cloud. they party hopped. i was a unicorn and randomly went to a rave and had the time of my life dancing for like 5 hours straight.

we will be recording/re-recording soon. we played our very first show at the smell, courtesy of our buddies lou and bobb bruno. it was def our best show ever.

this saturday is a wicked hip hop show me and gil put together. see you there! or watch the live webcast at www.stickam.com/thewarpzone.

party in the 909

margot shot her "party in the 909" video today. dan from foot village and erik were cholos. the rest of us girls were slutty teenagers. i can't believe how much me and meg really looked like teenz. it was so wicked fun. we drank 40s, stopped traffic on our street, and then had a dance party in the middle of the afternoon. some pix below.

fun fun work

i just made the grossest pesto. it was so salty, i couldn't even stand eating it but i did eat like a quarter of it.

i have not been photographing much lately which sux bc life has been so so fun. i've been hanging out so much with erik and nathan, who are two of the besties. i feel like i don't see enough of my baby boo elijah though.

working on a lot of musics right now which i'm stoked on. me and elijah are finally gonna continue working on marillica. i have a new band with erik called sleepless that's going to be all love ballads. me and jessica wrote an epic new dana&stripes song and hopefully will play another show soon. i'm working on some music for e&e. i'm gonna do some vocals for illgill, and also started singing backup with zombelle. sry to geek out, i'm just excited about all this stuff.

there's some super fun puppy dog stuff coming up. we have a show tonight at ports o call. if you feel like driving out to west co, pls come, it'll be a blast! on monday we're gonna do a special guest spot in ki's set at pehrspace. and on wednesday we're playing at motion la with our friends antique imp and tremblexy. this is gonna be a fun show for sure. only thing is it costs 7 bucks which is a total bummer but i swear it's going to be real good YEAH!

just life

i have gone up to angels crest (pictured above) 2 sundays in a row bc it is my fave place now. it takes at least 30 mins to get from the bottom of the mountain to the top (driving of course), which is like 5,000 ft. high. it's worth the trip, once there, it's so dark you can see more stars than you've ever seen in one place. shooting stars, and even meteors, flash through the sky like every 5 mins. it is so cool. last night we saw a deer and it looked just like bambi.

we (puppy dog) have been spending some good quality time together lately and i like it. we watch movies, like penelope and the alice in wonderland with whoopi goldberg in it. yesterday me and vanessa went to more than one 99cent store and found wine at one which was TIGHT. we also went downtown and got a bootleg of pineapple express bc we want to watch it like everyday. then we played rock band for like a really long time. it was a way cool sunday. tonight we all went to petco, where i saw the parakeet of my dreams. it had like a robin's egg blue chest and was sleeping. it looked like that guy ^. i really want a bird but without the responsibility of having to take care of one. one of my fave houses in LA--somewhere off of melrose--has a huge parrot just chillin in its cage right on the front porch. i want to have joint custody of an owl with elijah, but i don't know if it's legal to have one?

speaking of animals, meg told me today that our bunny davy jones died. it's sad and weird.

i downloaded a new ringtone bc i am obsessed with that t.i. song "whatever you like". gotta get a man like dat.

i have been working a lot (kind of) lately and just when runway season ends, i just got a whole lot more stuff to write. not that i'm complaining. one of my fave things in the world is when we're all home and i hear "valley girl" in the living room and i've got my door open and am "working". like right now.

model mania

while i have been mourning the absence of daria werbowy and gemma ward for quite some time now, nearly a month of fashion week following has forced me to notice newer eye candy. while i could still gaze obsessively at stam, irina, and anja (not agyness though, blech), it's true that repeated encounters can, in fact, induce feelings of love. case in point: the loverly girls below who have walked miles and miles of catwalk in the past few weeks, forcing me to be utterly googley eyed upon sight of them.

i'm wearing a kimono, dawg

oh man last night was SOFUN. it was def the second best puppy dog show ever, second only to our very first show, which we also played at gil's. the warpzone is my most fave place to play. never mind that it feels like a volcano in there sometimes, the energy is just so cool and it's always a wicked awesome party.

i'm so happy everything worked out, i was so stressed that i was just going to cancel the show but good thing i didn't. tons of old and new friends showed up! jenna's performance was rad, duncan, chloe, and caitlin were really cool too! i'm so glad they decided to take their fun little project live, it was totally a treat. and zombelle was freaking amazing of course, shannon has the loveliest voice.

i'm so happy marillica (my side proj with elijah) came together so fast. i messed up really badly at the end but it was so fun to play an electric set and be really loud. elijah inspires and teaches me so much musically, i can't wait to work on more stuff with him.

i wish i had some photos but i always forget to ask someone to take some. oh well you really had to be there anyway.

EVERYONE is invited to our housewarming party this saturday, sept 27. it's going to be epic. myspace msg or text us for the address.

thrash thrash thrash

why, yes i am known to be a bit of a modelizer. so of course i found these ny fashion week freebies to be completely adorable:

i'd vote for stam, personally, she seems like a totally down girl.

my retrospective on ny fashion week is coming soon. so far i feel there have been just a few standout collections, always the story for ny.

in other news me and elijah finally started our new band marillica. we are going to play at the upcoming sept 20 puppy dog show!

we also are finally having our housewarming party on sept 27. evites to come soon, send your email addresses!

fashion technology

i am stoked on style.com's web upgrade! now it lets you view the looks on a full screen. also, they apparently have faster uploading capabilities now, which means quicker access to runway photos as the shows transpire. this is a pretty good geekout, and with good reason: s/s 09 fashion weeks have arrived!

plant life

now that i live on a property with enough existing plant life for inspiration, and plenty of room for additional experimentation, i'm finally trying my hand at botany. not that i'm really taking it too far, i'm starting small with just four carefully selected treasures which are pictured below. i hope they all grow giant and luscious. it's fun waking up and being really excited about watering things.

-begonias
-unfortunately i don't remember the name of the fuzzy red flowers
-sweet basil
-string of buttons succulent

hollywood

me and vanessa went to this 944 party. it was weird bc no one was dancing but it was cool bc we got free OPI manicures and we got to see kim kardashian. it was also cool being vip. i almost got in a brawl with a really big dude that was trying to push his way past me and he felt stupid and vanessa was really proud of me for regulating on his ass. anyway we had a much better time at hms bounty afterwards.

pro

the first half of this will be puppy dog biz and the second half will be personal biz.

our show the other night was awesome, it got 70,000 views on stickam. that's pretty amazing, especially considering the jump from our first time playing the webcast, which got 30,000 views. i keep hearing that dana&stripes (mine and jessica's side project) seems really serious. that's cool.

ryan just did a crazy awesome remix for us, which he surprised us with at his show at pehr last night. check it out on our myspace. he is so freaking cool and so good. i just recorded a rappish type of song with him that my baby elijah wrote and it's pretty rad, hopefully everyone will be hearing it soon in da club and stuff. jeff also has another remix for us coming soon. and tyler from pizza! did a couple of cool ones too but he is flaking on sending us the files.

i've been thinking a lot about visuals today. elijah wants to do album art for us and it's going to be cool bc he is like my favourite artist. i showed him the mcqueen a/w 08 lookbook for inspiration. i really want it to be kind of wicked but with a rainbow-like lightness to it.

i was sitting in my room at my new industrial shabby chic desk, facing a bare green tea wall and i realized how cute it is in here and i want to keep it as minimalistic as possible without sacrificing personality. that's really been my taste lately, i don't like clutter or kitsch and i have never been interested in excessive accessorizing. also i've been kind of into tougher, darker things so i'm having a hard time finding a place for my fashion photos, framed floral print and other pretty flea market finds. i do like the energy in my room right now so why not keep it this way, at least for a while.

i was also thinking about what to do with other parts of the house, mainly the outside. i planted some begonias and also these fuzzy red flowers, hopefully they grow really big. but my main idea for my flower garden dream is to plant a flowerbed that takes up most of the front yard. it'll look kind of like this but prob with a diff color scheme:

i also want to get some (rollable? is that a word?) turf. you know, the kind that you can roll out and roll back up. for the parking lot bc we have so much space there, we can just roll it out on a nice night and stargaze. yes, that sounds really gay but everyone likes doing that kind of crap.

random food pix

lemon-ricotta muffins baked in an ice cream cone tin vanessa found at the salvation army.

a dinner we made for ry-nay a while ago. it was caprese and pasta with sauteed mushrooms and a brown butter vinaigrette.

the sundays

me and jessica made lunch for nathan. mixed vegetables cooked in vegetable stock, tumeric, and red pepper flakes, plus crostini with a pea puree and diced tomatoes.

then we made the longest trip ever to home depot. nathan helped me build this awesome desk!!! i am in love with it. i call it industrial shabby chic.

<3 everyone

[i wrote this entire thing last night but passed out just before i could click 'publish post']

so today was just cool, even though i didn't get any work done at all. last night we were driving down vermont and i realized that my absolute most favourite filipino restaurant in LA, which is in carson, has an outpost very close to our new house! i let out one of those gasps, you know, the kind that makes the driver totally nervous. oh wait, speaking of last night, we went to a really rad show at pehrspace where 2 of our faves, foot village and e&e played.

anyway, so naturally me and jessica went to that restaurant for dinner today. it's called dj bibingkahan. i LOVE it. she had never had filipino food before and duh, she was blown away. we were so full that we had to pick up a bottle of voddy to help us digest.

when we got home we started working on music for our side proj, dana&stripes. um, i would venture to say that dana&stripes is slightly better than puppy dog, but i won't actually say that. it's just very organic and free-form and fun and so goth, which we both totally are at heart. it's awesome whenever music can reflect who you really are on the inside. i'm just joking really...i have to clarify that bc the written word is so much more enigmatic than verbal and body language.

after practically polishing off that bot of vod, we decided to go to cha cha with our buddies elijah and tyler. it was awesome and i totally got to take theee cutest photobooth pix with elijah, which i will post later.

i'm tired and dr%#$ so the end. sorry no pix really but soon, promise. in the mean time here are a couple i took of pizza! at the smell the other night.

house and house show

man. i feel like a d-bag bc i have not been photographing anything lately. but here is one pic of our new dining room, which peeks into the living room. that's all you get until you come over for a visit.

also, one of our side projects, dana & stripes, which is me and jessica, will be playing for the first time at the next puppy dog show which is aug 30. pls come, you will like it!

omg chanel

i was almost in tears trying to describe this ad from italian vogue to dana the other night over chinese food and pbr. if anyone reading this has unlimited funds, please purchase this trio and donate it to puppy dog. i think it could be tax deductable somehow...

home

i am so sleepy but am having blog withdrawals. this weekend was so long, just all the moving and stuff. anyway, we are now in our new house in k-town and it is sooo cool. we got so much unpacked and arranged, but it was mostly jessica doing it. we can't wait for everyone to come visit. vanessa is watching "girls just wanna have fun" right now. she (we) loves sjp.

so our backyard neighbors are none other than our friends angie, erik ,and margot. the whole sitch couldn't possibly be more perfect. aside from many musical projects, we have many things forthcoming, like double dutch sessions. i'm also going to write a play, which we will put on in our dining room. this is going to be amazing but i can't divulge too many details right now. we had an awesome sunday dinner tonight which i wish i photographed but i was so stoked about eating that i forgot. sorry for this non-picture post but i really have been preoccupied the past few days and haven't been photographing much.

today i played baseball with the guys from pizza! and some other cool dudes. it was way fun and i totez want to do it every week. they are always looking for players so pls join! every sunday near the brewery, downtown.

blasphemy!!!!!

moving!

i'm drunk and packing up my stuff, kind of! this is like my 5th summer in a row moving so i vowed this time not to do any actual packing bc it's annoying. no boxes, boxes are for the weak. real women run down the stairs with an armful of dvds. i'm also going to throw all of my kitchenware into my diane von furstenburg suitcase. no lie. so, here are a couple pix from the hangout sesh at jessica's apt the other night, which will now be obsolete.
