i'm wearing a kimono, dawg

oh man last night was SOFUN. it was def the second best puppy dog show ever, second only to our very first show, which we also played at gil's. the warpzone is my most fave place to play. never mind that it feels like a volcano in there sometimes, the energy is just so cool and it's always a wicked awesome party.

i'm so happy everything worked out, i was so stressed that i was just going to cancel the show but good thing i didn't. tons of old and new friends showed up! jenna's performance was rad, duncan, chloe, and caitlin were really cool too! i'm so glad they decided to take their fun little project live, it was totally a treat. and zombelle was freaking amazing of course, shannon has the loveliest voice.

i'm so happy marillica (my side proj with elijah) came together so fast. i messed up really badly at the end but it was so fun to play an electric set and be really loud. elijah inspires and teaches me so much musically, i can't wait to work on more stuff with him.

i wish i had some photos but i always forget to ask someone to take some. oh well you really had to be there anyway.

EVERYONE is invited to our housewarming party this saturday, sept 27. it's going to be epic. myspace msg or text us for the address.

thrash thrash thrash

why, yes i am known to be a bit of a modelizer. so of course i found these ny fashion week freebies to be completely adorable:

i'd vote for stam, personally, she seems like a totally down girl.

my retrospective on ny fashion week is coming soon. so far i feel there have been just a few standout collections, always the story for ny.

in other news me and elijah finally started our new band marillica. we are going to play at the upcoming sept 20 puppy dog show!

we also are finally having our housewarming party on sept 27. evites to come soon, send your email addresses!

fashion technology

i am stoked on style.com's web upgrade! now it lets you view the looks on a full screen. also, they apparently have faster uploading capabilities now, which means quicker access to runway photos as the shows transpire. this is a pretty good geekout, and with good reason: s/s 09 fashion weeks have arrived!

plant life

now that i live on a property with enough existing plant life for inspiration, and plenty of room for additional experimentation, i'm finally trying my hand at botany. not that i'm really taking it too far, i'm starting small with just four carefully selected treasures which are pictured below. i hope they all grow giant and luscious. it's fun waking up and being really excited about watering things.

-begonias
-unfortunately i don't remember the name of the fuzzy red flowers
-sweet basil
-string of buttons succulent

hollywood

me and vanessa went to this 944 party. it was weird bc no one was dancing but it was cool bc we got free OPI manicures and we got to see kim kardashian. it was also cool being vip. i almost got in a brawl with a really big dude that was trying to push his way past me and he felt stupid and vanessa was really proud of me for regulating on his ass. anyway we had a much better time at hms bounty afterwards.

pro

the first half of this will be puppy dog biz and the second half will be personal biz.

our show the other night was awesome, it got 70,000 views on stickam. that's pretty amazing, especially considering the jump from our first time playing the webcast, which got 30,000 views. i keep hearing that dana&stripes (mine and jessica's side project) seems really serious. that's cool.

ryan just did a crazy awesome remix for us, which he surprised us with at his show at pehr last night. check it out on our myspace. he is so freaking cool and so good. i just recorded a rappish type of song with him that my baby elijah wrote and it's pretty rad, hopefully everyone will be hearing it soon in da club and stuff. jeff also has another remix for us coming soon. and tyler from pizza! did a couple of cool ones too but he is flaking on sending us the files.

i've been thinking a lot about visuals today. elijah wants to do album art for us and it's going to be cool bc he is like my favourite artist. i showed him the mcqueen a/w 08 lookbook for inspiration. i really want it to be kind of wicked but with a rainbow-like lightness to it.

i was sitting in my room at my new industrial shabby chic desk, facing a bare green tea wall and i realized how cute it is in here and i want to keep it as minimalistic as possible without sacrificing personality. that's really been my taste lately, i don't like clutter or kitsch and i have never been interested in excessive accessorizing. also i've been kind of into tougher, darker things so i'm having a hard time finding a place for my fashion photos, framed floral print and other pretty flea market finds. i do like the energy in my room right now so why not keep it this way, at least for a while.

i was also thinking about what to do with other parts of the house, mainly the outside. i planted some begonias and also these fuzzy red flowers, hopefully they grow really big. but my main idea for my flower garden dream is to plant a flowerbed that takes up most of the front yard. it'll look kind of like this but prob with a diff color scheme:

i also want to get some (rollable? is that a word?) turf. you know, the kind that you can roll out and roll back up. for the parking lot bc we have so much space there, we can just roll it out on a nice night and stargaze. yes, that sounds really gay but everyone likes doing that kind of crap.

random food pix

lemon-ricotta muffins baked in an ice cream cone tin vanessa found at the salvation army.

a dinner we made for ry-nay a while ago. it was caprese and pasta with sauteed mushrooms and a brown butter vinaigrette.

the sundays

me and jessica made lunch for nathan. mixed vegetables cooked in vegetable stock, tumeric, and red pepper flakes, plus crostini with a pea puree and diced tomatoes.

then we made the longest trip ever to home depot. nathan helped me build this awesome desk!!! i am in love with it. i call it industrial shabby chic.
